Last Call: Use Your Amex Platinum $50 Saks Credit Before June 30 or Lose It Forever
If you have an American Express Platinum Card, you have roughly two weeks to take advantage of one of its longtime perks. The biannual $50 Saks Fifth Avenue statement credit is officially ending on June 30, 2026. Starting July 1, the benefit will be retired as Amex shifts its partnership strategy following the recent bankruptcy filing of Saks Global.
How to Use the Credit Right Now
This is a $50 “use it or lose it” credit for the first half of the year (January – June). Since the benefit is being discontinued entirely in July, there will be no second-half credit for 2026.
- Shop Online: Go to Saks.com. Common items that hover around the $50 mark include high-end skincare, candles, socks, or kitchen gadgets.
- Shop In-Store: Valid at any Saks Fifth Avenue location in the U.S. Note that Saks OFF 5TH locations do not qualify.
- Enrollment Required: Ensure you have clicked “Enroll” in the ‘Benefits’ section of your Amex online account before making the purchase.
Why is it going away?
Saks Global filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early 2026. While the stores remain open, American Express is opting to sunset this specific credit in favor of a new, yet-to-be-announced retail benefit launching July 1. Speculation suggests a rotating set of luxury merchant offers or a broader “Department Store” credit, but nothing is confirmed yet.
PointsGobbler Verdict
Don’t leave money on the table. Even if you don’t normally shop at Saks, you can find household essentials or gifts that essentially become free after the $50 credit. This is the final time this credit will ever be available, so make your purchase today to ensure it clears before the June 30 cutoff.
